Narrowcasting

What is narrowcasting?

Narrowcasting is a form of communication that is indispensable these days. Using displays, an entrepreneur can present various forms of information to his own audience. This audience can be an internal group of people, for example the employees in an office building or the staff areas of a large supermarket chain. The information that is shown to this group is often related to the company itself, for example statistics, updates, agendas but also fun content such as the weather, birthdays of the staff, the latest news etc.

But narrowcasting is also used for a group of external people, these are the customers or clients of the entrepreneur. This group is shown content that benefits the entrepreneur, which will therefore have a turnover-increasing effect. Think of showing current offers or content that will make his customers make more impulse purchases. The target group therefore determines what the function of the screen will be.

Narrowcasting VS Broadcasting

Narrowcasting is the counterpart of Broadcasting. Broadcasting is used to reach a large group of people, think of a television station like SBS6 or RTL. Here the goal is to reach as many people as possible in as many households as possible.

Narrowcasting, on the other hand, is used to reach a small select group, this group of people can be determined by an entrepreneur himself and provided with targeted content by means of displays in his company.
